Cross Eyed Cricket in a Cob

Enjoying some 2013 vintage Cross Eyed Cricket on the balcony tonight. According to the label: "An unsweetened black cavendish base with Turkish, Latakia, & Perique. Lightly flavored with rum punch." I've really been enjoying this blend; the Turkish, Latakia and Perique make it well rounded and tasty while the rum gives it just enough sweetness. It has a pleasant room note that doesn't run the Little Girl off.
I've gotten on a rum tobacco kick as of late and hope to try a few others!

Breckinridge First Taste

It's Cob Tuesday once again! I found this tin behind the seat of my truck today. It had been opened, but I don't remember ever smoking it. I wish I had! The can description says: "A non-aromatic mixture of Kentucky plug cut burley". A very mild smoke that is said to be reminiscent of the old-timey OTCs. I taste some cedar or pine, white pepper, leather and a mild creaminess that reminds me of good milk chocolate. It's listed as out of production, but I may need to find a couple more tins. This would make a great, easy smoke for working in the shop or tying flies.

IPSD 2016 Pipe No. 1

Happy IPSD 2016 to all my pipe loving friends!! I usually only smoke one pipe and one tobacco each day, but, in honor of International Pipe Smoking Day, I'm going to go through a bit of the rotation and keep posting them as I go!  Pipe number one is my Grandfather's bent Italian briar with a bowlful of Philosopher from The Tinder Box. I really enjoy this blend and need to get some more as I'm running low!
