Breckinridge First Taste

It's Cob Tuesday once again! I found this tin behind the seat of my truck today. It had been opened, but I don't remember ever smoking it. I wish I had! The can description says: "A non-aromatic mixture of Kentucky plug cut burley". A very mild smoke that is said to be reminiscent of the old-timey OTCs. I taste some cedar or pine, white pepper, leather and a mild creaminess that reminds me of good milk chocolate. It's listed as out of production, but I may need to find a couple more tins. This would make a great, easy smoke for working in the shop or tying flies.

IPSD 2016 Pipe No. 1

Happy IPSD 2016 to all my pipe loving friends!! I usually only smoke one pipe and one tobacco each day, but, in honor of International Pipe Smoking Day, I'm going to go through a bit of the rotation and keep posting them as I go!  Pipe number one is my Grandfather's bent Italian briar with a bowlful of Philosopher from The Tinder Box. I really enjoy this blend and need to get some more as I'm running low!

Tasting Notes: La Gloria Cubana Serie N

The La Gloria Cubana Serie N Oscuro I picked up on my way home from Winston-Salem. It was a delicious smoke with flavors that reminded me of dark chocolate, coffee and a bit of leather. Unfortunately, I must not have chosen well, this cigar had one of the worst runners I've ever experienced and when the ash made it to the monogram the entire wrapper began to come off. I'd recommend it anyway, great taste and a good smoke, but choose your stick wisely!
